THE DECLUTTERING PHENOMENOM
Unless you are dead or have been hiding under a rock, I am sure that you have seen all the hype about the decluttering/organizing guru, Marie Kondo. That lady has all kinds of tips and tricks to get you organized.
But do you know that spiritual and professional decluttering and organization is just as important as purging that closet or kitchen cupboards.
Now don’t get me wrong it all important, but just like being healthy requires good diet and exercise, getting out of overwhelm can sometimes be as easy as cleaning your closet and desk. But don’t forget that your heart and mind need to be included in there as well.
So let’s start with your closet. I know you have heard this a million times but if you have not worn something for 6 to 12 months it’s time to get rid of it. Don’t hold it up and say “oh but it’s so pretty and I might wear it one.” Stop right there. It needs to go. Same with shoes.
Now let’s move to your desk. I mean I am a neat freak, with slight OCD, but if you looked at my desk, you would wonder how I function. Sometimes that bitch gets away from me!!
So think about how you feel when you look at a cluttered disorganized desk. If you are like me, it feels overwhelming and may make the tasks you have to do seem more daunting, when in fact they are totally manageable.
Ok now let’s talk about that kitchen junk drawer. Don’t even try to tell me you don’t have one, because we all do. But again, having clutter and crap that when you look at it, makes your stomach roll. What does your junk drawer look like? Mine has old pens, take out menus, old soy sauce packages and some stuff that I am not even sure of its origin. I know you guys can relate.
So before starting any new task, get your desk organized. Throw out papers and old bills, or anything that is irrelevant. Next move onto your actual computer/desktop. Clean up old files. DELETE, DELETE AND DOUBLE DELETE. Having a clean computer, makes finding documents easier and makes your computer run faster
Now let’s move on to your personal life. Who is taking up space and energy that really don’t have the right to and that in all honesty, life would be better if you did not have them in your life. It may be hard, but ultimately they are cluttering you good “ju ju.” It’s amazing how much better you will feel when you make the decision to let toxic people out of your life.
Organize, declutter and set yourself free. The feeling of accomplishment when you do these things will allow you to see things more clearly and give you’re a sense of relief. So what are you waiting for? The junk drawer won’t clean itself!!
Much Love,
Maria
